ISO-PLUS System: Proven Thermal and Moisture Protection for Indoor Pools

Indoor pools create a unique environment characterized by consistently high temperatures and humidity levels. A typical pool hall is designed for around 30 degrees Celsius and 60 percent relative humidity. This constant indoor climate requires that all building components be carefully adapted to ensure durability, comfort, and energy efficiency.

The ISO-PLUS system, a combination of interior insulation and vapor barrier, has been successfully used for more than 40 years in the safe and efficient construction of indoor pools.

With our ISO-PLUS SYSTEM we set the standard in indoor pool construction.

Alexander Ziegler, Managing Director

Thermal and Moisture Protection in One

For new buildings planned according to the Building Energy Act (GEG), an indoor pool is treated as living space even though it is approximately 10 degrees Celsius warmer than adjacent rooms. This larger temperature difference compared with the outside air makes additional interior insulation in the wellness area especially energy efficient.

ISO’s building physicists calculate the optimal insulation thickness to bring the pool hall to a low-energy standard. The guiding principle is always “as thick as necessary, as thin as possible.” The elements are equally well suited for retrofits and renovations, as they can be installed directly onto existing surfaces.

Each large-format ISO-PLUS panel features a factory-laminated aluminum vapor barrier that provides reliable protection against moisture. Walls and ceilings are fully enclosed with the vapor barrier, creating an airtight space similar to a thermos. Any penetrations are securely sealed using ISO system accessories.

System Construction for Complete Design Freedom

Depending on the substrate, the 2.5 square meter elements are glued and fixed with dowels. The aluminum vapor barrier can then be directly coated within the system build-up. This allows for complete design flexibility. The classic choice is ISO brand pool hall plaster, specially developed for humid rooms and available in a range of textures. Heavier materials, such as natural stone or wood paneling, can also be applied to the ISO-PLUS system.

The foundation of every project is always a solution that is physically and structurally sound. Since all components are perfectly coordinated, the system is backed by a comprehensive performance guarantee.
