For triathlete Kay Riegelhof, the backyard pool is the perfect place to relax and train. Surrounded by greenery, the 3.77 x 10 meter pool combines wellness, fitness, and family fun. To create ideal training conditions, the family chose the HydroStar turbine swimming system from BINDER.
The custom-made fiberglass pool, produced by Italian manufacturer Polyfaser and installed by WW Pool in Reiskirchen, was designed larger than the standard version to provide enough space for the family’s four children and their friends. The pool’s durable fiberglass construction offers excellent insulation and long-lasting quality.
For Kay Riegelhof, one thing was clear from the beginning: the pool needed a counter-current system for triathlon training. After testing HydroStar during a trial swim, he immediately appreciated the wide and natural river-like current created by BINDER’s patented turbine technology.
Unlike conventional pump-driven systems, HydroStar produces a smooth, even flow that supports the swimmer’s body and allows full concentration on technique and endurance training. The family selected a dual-turbine HydroStar BGA 550K system with a flow rate of up to 550 m³ per hour.
Beyond professional training benefits, HydroStar also transforms the pool into a wellness and leisure area suitable for aqua jogging, relaxation, and family activities. The system is energy-efficient, consumes significantly less electricity than traditional systems, and requires very little maintenance.
The pool area also features VitaLight® LED lighting from Hugo Lahme, a swimroll cover system with a BINDER MecaTec motor, bamboo decking, and a solar-heated outdoor shower from Astralpool.
Kay Riegelhof especially values the realistic swimming conditions and the convenience of training at home rather than traveling to public pools. His children also love using the powerful current system during the summer months.
