SPECK Pumpen, Where Heritage Meets Innovation

SPECK Pumpen is one of Europe’s longest-standing manufacturers in the pump industry and has represented engineering expertise in the conveying and circulation of water and other fluids for more than 110 years. The family-owned company combines a rich heritage with modern engineering excellence and a clear focus on energy-efficient and sustainable solutions.

From a Mechanical Workshop to an International Manufacturer

The origins of the company date back to 1909, when master mechanic Daniel Speck took over a small workshop in Nuremberg, Germany. Only a few years later, together with his sons, he began developing and manufacturing the first pump systems.

An early example of the company’s innovative spirit was the belt-driven plunger pump with an integrated drain mechanism, designed in 1913, which was used in agriculture as a cooling pump for combustion engines.

As electrification gathered pace after the First World War, demand for high-performance pump systems grew significantly. During this period, SPECK continued to develop steadily, laying the foundations for the market position it holds today.

Over the decades, the company’s increasingly diversified product portfolio led to a structural division into specialised business units. Although operating independently, these units remain closely connected. This family-oriented structure continues to shape the company to this day.

Location, Production and International Presence

The company is headquartered in Neunkirchen am Sand, Germany. From there, SPECK manages its research and development, production and global distribution. With exports to more than 90 countries, SPECK is an internationally established provider in the field of pump and system technology.

In recent years, SPECK has systematically strengthened its vertical integration by bringing key components into its own value chain. Plastic housings and components, filter systems and in-house motor production have broadened the company’s manufacturing capabilities, reduced its reliance on external suppliers and enhanced both its international presence and operational flexibility.

Key production areas include:

  • Swimming pool technology for private and public applications
  • Building services and pressure boosting systems
  • Industrial pump solutions
  • Pump technology for aquaculture

The company is particularly well known for its “BADU” brand, under which SPECK develops and manufactures swimming pool pumps, counter-current systems, filter systems and backwash units.

Technology Across Diverse Sectors

SPECK develops solutions for a wide range of applications, from private swimming pools to complex industrial systems.

Alongside energy-efficient heating circulation pumps and borehole pumps, its portfolio includes multistage centrifugal pumps and pressure boosting systems.

Particular emphasis is placed on efficiency and sustainability. Modern pump technology is purposefully engineered to reduce energy consumption while ensuring high operational reliability and long service life.

Management and Corporate Philosophy

SPECK is led by Hermann Speck as a fourth-generation, owner-managed family business. Together with Armin Herger, he is responsible for the company’s strategic development.

The management team defines the company’s mission as follows:

“We have been moving water and other fluids efficiently and in a climate-friendly way since 1909, with smart products and effective solutions. Today, just as in the future.”

This guiding principle is reflected both in product development and in the company’s approach to service. Tradition is not seen as the opposite of innovation, but as its foundation.

Modern technologies, continuous development and application-oriented solutions form the core of the company’s strategy.

Figures, Facts and Global Presence

Today, SPECK employs around 1,000 people worldwide, including approximately 250 in Neunkirchen am Sand, Germany. Annual sales amount to around 650,000 pumps and systems, making SPECK one of Europe’s leading manufacturers in the field of pump technology.

Its combination of long-standing experience, industrial manufacturing expertise and international reach enables SPECK to respond flexibly to diverse market requirements and deliver tailored solutions for a wide range of applications.

SPECK combines heritage with future-facing innovation, developing pump technology and solutions that inspire confidence worldwide.
