BINDER GmbH & Co. KG is a family owned company based in Hameln, Germany, and one of the leading European manufacturers of drives for pool covers and counter current systems. Founded in 2003, the company initially focused on electric motors for pool covers. Under the MecaTec brand BINDER supplies tube and shaft motors to renowned manufacturers and has established itself as a specialist for reliable drive technology in the pool sector.
With HydroStar BINDER pioneered the turbine swimming system. After years of development the first units were delivered for testing in 2012, and the technology was later patented. Unlike conventional counter current systems that work with pumps and create a hard, punctual jet, HydroStar uses a brushless direct current motor to drive a compact turbine. The result is a broad, powerful and even flow that surrounds the swimmer and creates a feeling similar to swimming in a natural river.
The product portfolio has since been expanded with EasyStar, a retrofit version of the turbine system for existing pools, and with additional accessories and control options, including app based control of the flow intensity. The systems are designed for demanding endurance training as well as for gentle wellness and water gymnastics, and they stand out through energy efficient operation, low noise and minimal maintenance requirements.
BINDER works closely with specialist dealers and partners and is active in various European pool associations. Numerous design and innovation awards underline the company’s ambition to continuously improve its technology and to offer users a unique, natural swimming experience in their own pool.
