Dorian Davies: A New Vision for the BSPF

The British pool and wellness sector is entering a strategic new chapter with the appointment of Dorian Davies as President of the British Swimming Pool Federation. In this comprehensive interview, he shares his core priorities for supporting professionals and raising quality standards across the country within a shifting economic landscape.

The new BSPF President places skills development and professional rigor at the very top of his mandate. Dorian Davies believes that the strength of a federation rests primarily on the technical expertise and reliability of its members.

He states with conviction that “Our primary mission is to ensure that every professional has the necessary resources to provide an impeccable and safe service”. For him, continuous education is not merely a commercial asset but an absolute necessity to meet the evolving demands of modern consumers.

Uniting Stakeholders for a Common Voice

The role of the BSPF involves coordinating major entities such as SPATA for installers and BISHTA for the spa sector. Dorian Davies intends to break down traditional silos to encourage a level of knowledge sharing that benefits the entire industry.

He points out that “It is by working within a common ambition that we will succeed in positively influencing government regulations and safety standards”. This unity is seen as a vital lever for protecting the interests of British businesses in the face of current legislative and environmental challenges.

The Spa and Wellness Sector as Engines for Sustainable Growth

Beyond the construction of traditional swimming pools, Dorian Davies is paying very close attention to the spa and hydrotherapy segment. He observes a growing demand for home relaxation solutions which require increasingly sophisticated technical mastery, particularly regarding water treatment.

In his own words “The spa market represents a major opportunity for our members provided that we maintain total rigor regarding hygiene and user safety”. The federation plans to strengthen its best practice guides to support this expansion while guaranteeing the protection of the end consumer.

The industry is currently facing a shortage of qualified labor and Dorian Davies wants the BSPF to play a leading role in making pool-related trades more attractive. He encourages companies to invest in apprenticeships and to promote technical careers to younger generations.

This vision involves more modern communication and an increased presence of the federation at major international trade shows. By strengthening the brand image of the profession, he hopes to sustain British expertise over the long term.

In conclusion Dorian Davies is particularly optimistic about the resilience of the industry despite global market fluctuations. His message to members is a call for collective engagement within the federation to have a greater impact on public debates.

He reminds the industry that “The BSPF is here to represent you and carry your voice to the highest level because together we are the guardians of quality in the industry”. This new presidency is therefore positioned under the sign of action, transparency, and the constant reinforcement of excellence standards.
