Spain’s Pool Market Boosted by Renovation Boom

The Spanish pool market remains dynamic. While market growth has moderated in recent years, both new construction and, increasingly, renovation projects continue to support steady demand. Industry figures show that more than 30,000 new private pools were built in Spain in 2024. At the same time, the modernization and refurbishment of existing pools is gaining importance.

Industry expert estimates suggest that around 24,000 new pools were installed in the first half of 2025 alone. Renovation activity was almost as strong, with approximately 22,000 refurbishment projects completed. One reason is the large installed base. Spain is one of Europe’s largest pool markets, with more than 1.3 million pools in operation. Many of these were built years or even decades ago and are now reaching the stage where equipment, surfaces and features require upgrading.

For manufacturers, pool builders and service companies, this installed base represents a stable long-term business opportunity. Particularly in demand are energy-efficient pumps, modern filtration systems, automated cleaning technology and LED lighting. Renovation projects increasingly also include upgrades to automated control systems and connected pool management solutions.

While new construction tends to follow the cycles of the real estate market, the renovation segment is emerging as a second strong pillar of the industry. In established pool regions such as Andalusia, Valencia and Catalonia, the large number of existing pools ensures a steady stream of modernization and service projects.
