Airsense, the wireless probe that eliminates cabling in swimming pools

The new space-saving solution for new installations and plant upgrades.

Presented at ForumPiscine 2026, Airsense is the new probe developed by Elmec Elettromeccanica that simplifies pool system installation by completely eliminating electrical cabling for water level control.

Instead of a traditional wired connection, the system uses a control unit based on the same electronics as Elmec’s Modul’Eau system, paired with a dedicated receiver that communicates with the probe via the LoRa protocol. This radio communication technology ensures stable and reliable transmission with a range of up to 1 km — well beyond the distances typically required in pool environments. Compared to other wireless connections such as Bluetooth, it offers greater stability and reduced interference.

Equipped with batteries lasting up to 24 months, the probe is simply bonded beneath the skimmer cap, allowing the sensor to make contact with the water and perform the same function as conventional wired equipment.

Why it makes financial sense

The competitive advantages of this innovation are primarily twofold. The first stems from Elmec’s Modul’Eau system, which replaces the traditional mechanical float with automated water level control. Readings are taken proportionally rather than instantaneously, allowing the solenoid valve to open gradually — reducing mechanical stress and contributing to a longer operational lifespan.

The result is a dual benefit: lower energy consumption on one hand, and more balanced water level management on the other, avoiding wave motion and the continuous introduction of cold water into the pool, which in turn helps maintain a more stable water temperature. The second major advantage concerns installation. Airsense eliminates not only dozens of metres of cabling, but also the excavation work required to lay it, significantly reducing both the time and complexity of the job.

According to feedback from installers who have already tested the solution, installation takes an average of approximately 15 minutes and requires no configuration procedure whatsoever. Elmec supplies each probe-receiver pair pre-tested and ready to use: the device simply needs to be positioned and switched on.

A key asset for plant upgrades

The Modul’Eau and Airsense combination not only delivers a significant reduction in construction costs for new installations, but proves particularly effective in the refurbishment of existing systems as well. With no electrical cabling involved, there is no longer any need to carry out demolition work on tiles, pool surrounds, or other finishes, considerably reducing the overall impact of the works.

Beyond aesthetic and structural improvements, these upgrades also enable a meaningful step forward in performance and energy efficiency, thanks to the water and electricity savings delivered by automated water level management. The solution integrates seamlessly into home automation and smart building management systems, and is suitable for public, private, and semi-private pools.
