Modern Pool Design in a Mediterranean Garden

WHAT MAKES THIS POOL SPECIAL
In Prottes in Lower Austria, the villa garden of an entrepreneurial family was enhanced during a renovation with a sleek 8 × 4 meter stainless steel pool by AQA Steel. The overflow pool is seamlessly integrated into the spacious terrace landscape, which transitions into a well-maintained lawn. Three palm trees planted within the lawn add a touch of holiday flair to the setting.

The harmonious integration of the pool is partly achieved through the stone covering that conceals the overflow channel—only a narrow slot surrounds the pool on all sides. As a result, the water level is flush with the terrace surface and visually merges with the surrounding environment.

Entry into the pool is via an 80-centimeter-wide staircase with a slip-resistant textured surface located close to the house. The pool floor continues the same textured structure and leads to a seating bench on the opposite side. This bench not only invites relaxation in the water but also houses a roller cover that protects the pool when not in use.

Fully automatic technology takes care of water treatment and heating. The relaxed poolside atmosphere can be enjoyed on sun loungers placed around the pool, at the small bistro table, or on the corner lounge seating area.

DESIGN DETAIL
Although the pool features an overflow channel, the terrace paving continues right up to the water’s edge. This is made possible because the surrounding catch channel is covered with segmented panels made from the same stone slabs, effectively concealing it.
