Where Water Becomes the Heart of the Courtyard

WHAT MAKES THIS POOL SPECIAL
In Göttlesbrunn in Lower Austria, AQA Steel realized a stainless steel pool in the spacious patio of a winemaking family, where work and living seamlessly blend together. The 12 × 3.5 meter pool is sheltered from the wind between the surrounding buildings and, on warm days, benefits from a Mediterranean-like atmosphere. This feeling is further enhanced by the design of the pool surroundings, at the center of which stands a striking old olive tree serving as a natural focal point.

Despite being designed as a skimmer pool, the pool features a very high water level. This is made possible by an ultra-flat surface skimmer. The pool floor is made of textured stainless steel sheet, which not only provides excellent grip underfoot but also creates distinctive visual accents. The same material offers additional safety on the 80-centimeter-wide entry steps on one side, which lead down to the pool floor.

Directly beside the steps, a tubular bench fills the remaining 2.7 meters of the pool’s width. Whether cooling off or relaxing after endurance training, the bench can provide soothing heated air bubbles thanks to controllable blower technology.

Water treatment is fully automatic, and the pool water is also heated. A roller cover is invisibly integrated into a “backpack” housing attached to the pool structure. An elegantly curved waterfall feature at the pool edge completes the equipment. In the evening, the white wall behind the pool is beautifully highlighted by façade lighting.

DESIGN DETAIL
A staircase entry leads into the pool from the side. Like the pool floor, the steps are made of textured stainless steel to provide better grip. Directly beside it, a tubular bench with an integrated air bubble function adjoins.
