Founded in 1983 by Heide and Roland Melichar, the company is now managed by Hannah and Felix Thormann. ROLLO SOLAR is one of the last independent family businesses in the industry. Short distances and quick decisions shape everyday work, and the company’s own standards can be summed up in three words: reliable · precise · personal.
Profiles that can do more
At the heart of the covers is a curved profile with a specially developed end cap. Its shape ensures efficient water drainage and a smaller winding radius, while a locking mechanism simplifies installation. All polycarbonate profiles feature TriEX technology, which increases UV stability and significantly extends service life.
The end caps are welded rather than sealed with silicone, which benefits both appearance and safety. Coloured profile connections inhibit algae growth. Exclusive metallic colours such as “Carbon Metallic Solar” and “Copper Solar” add design accents. In 2025, ROLLO SOLAR received the Red Dot Award in the “Sustainable Design” category for its product concept. The product warranty is up to five years.
Made to measure for private pools, hotels and public pools
Its own metalworking and woodworking shops give the company a high level of in-house production. This makes it possible to realise large and complex projects too – from special colours and special materials to freeform pools measured by 3D laser. There are no standard solutions: every cover is individually planned and manufactured.
ROLLO SOLAR is particularly in demand in the hotel industry. To date, the company has completed around 225 hotel projects in more than 17 countries, from boutique hotels to five-star resorts. References include Schloss Elmau and The Ritz-Carlton in Wolfsburg in Germany, the Stanglwirt organic and wellness resort in Tyrol and Rosewood Schloss Fuschl in the Salzkammergut in Austria, and FORESTIS Dolomites and Quellenhof Luxury Resort in South Tyrol. Public pools such as the Mineralbad Berg in Stuttgart also rely on covers from Bad Tölz.

From planning to installation, ROLLO SOLAR handles everything from a single source – an advantage for pool builders, especially in the high season when time is short. Experienced fitters install the covers quickly and carefully, so that partners can concentrate on their own customers. The service is available worldwide.
