WHAT MAKES THIS SAUNA SPECIAL
Steam bath or sauna – why choose when you can have both? The basement of a residence in Bietigheim-Bissingen offered ample space to accommodate both, prompting the homeowners to commission Rund ums Haus to transform it into a comfortable private wellness retreat.
The carefully considered concept positioned the sauna and steam bath diagonally opposite one another in separate corners of the room. This arrangement allowed two distinct design languages to coexist harmoniously: a warm timber-clad sauna on one side and a steam bath finished with grey wood-look tiles on the other. Both cabins are seamlessly integrated into the architecture and appear as individual niches, each creating its own intimate and welcoming atmosphere.

The space between them is occupied by a lounge area furnished with generously upholstered daybeds that invite relaxation and lingering. A particular highlight of this zone is the wall lighting, which projects coloured light cones in various hues, creating a unique ambience and allowing for dynamic lighting compositions.
A walk-in shower was also incorporated into a niche between the sauna and lounge area. Equipped with an overhead shower by Cara, it provides gentle rainfall-like water flow, while a gush hose by Keuco offers a refreshing and invigorating cool-down after a sauna session.
DESIGN DETAIL
This project turns a constraint into an advantage. The existing projection next to the room door now serves as a subtle room divider, incorporates a small built-in shelf, and cleverly conceals the sauna controls from direct view, helping to maintain the clean and uncluttered appearance of the wellness area.
