Relaxed Luxury Beneath the Sylt Sky

WHAT MAKES THIS POOL SPECIAL

This expansive garden surrounding a thatched-roof holiday home on the island of Sylt was to be enhanced with an equally impressive outdoor pool. To bring the vision to life, the pool experts from Sunpools Schikora traveled to the owner’s residence in Hamburg. It quickly became clear during the planning discussions that the garden pool was intended to fulfill a dream project—one not constrained by a fixed budget.

In close collaboration with Hamburg-based landscape architect Sebastian Jensen, a truly exceptional pool concept was created. Jensen has been a long-standing network partner of Sunpools, and only through this close cooperation was it possible to realize such an outstanding prestige project.

The elongated swimming pool with its integrated whirlpool—both fully clad in Neoglass mosaic tiles by Sicis—sits slightly elevated on a clearly structured platform framed with natural stone slabs. The remaining terrace surfaces are finished in tactile, color-coordinated wood decking, creating several relaxing lounge areas furnished with comfortable outdoor furniture. Beneath the wooden deck, a dedicated plant room was constructed to house all the technical equipment for both the pool and whirlpool.

The technology itself is of the highest standard: an Ospa water treatment system, a four-jet counter-current swimming system, and a heating concept combining a heat exchanger with an air-source pool heat pump. Based on adjustable efficiency parameters, the pool control system independently decides which heat source should be used at any given time in order to maximize energy efficiency. The solar roller cover, which was given its own concealed compartment within the pool structure, also contributes significantly to the system’s energy performance.

The entire installation is remotely monitored, while maintenance and servicing are handled by Sunpools’ network partner HTS. This ensures that whenever the homeowners arrive at their holiday residence, their luxurious garden pool is always ready for immediate enjoyment.

DESIGN DETAIL

The whirlpool’s water treatment system operates independently and is not connected to the pool technology. It also has its own roller cover, which—similar to the main pool—is concealed beneath one of the seating benches (visible on the right side of the photo).
