Where Tradition Meets Contemporary Relaxation

WHAT MAKES THIS POOL SPECIAL

The expansive garden surrounding a traditional thatched-roof house in Holm, Schleswig-Holstein, was enhanced by Sunpools Schikora with a sparkling swimming pool that, originally, had never even been planned. The homeowners had initially intended only to renovate their small indoor pool. During the consultation process, however, the desire for swimming under the open sky emerged. As a result, the aging indoor pool was simply covered over with a floor and today serves as a fitness area complete with sauna, shower, and WC. The practical plant room, however, continues to be used—although it was completely modernized and equipped with state-of-the-art technology. This includes, among other things, an exclusive water treatment system from Ospa and a heat pump by HKR.

The new pool—an MLine one-piece pool from RivieraPool—was positioned parallel to the former pool house and framed by light-colored paving slabs, where comfortable cushioned lounge islands invite relaxation. These are often enjoyed well into the night, as the homeowners wanted to use their pool not only for cooling off and swimming during the day, but also for enjoying sunsets with a glass of red wine by the water’s edge. Fittingly, the color harmony chosen for the Ezarri glass mosaic finish, which gives the pool its vibrant shimmering appearance, is called Cocktail Alexander. During the daytime, sunlight streaming across the water creates a lively atmosphere—as long as the solar roller cover with polycarbonate slats remains hidden inside its compartment beneath the elongated first step of the entrance staircase. At night, meanwhile, the garden pool glows with a warm ambiance thanks to its warm-white LED underwater lighting, illuminating the setting beautifully long after sunset if desired.

DESIGN DETAIL

At the staircase entrance, which extends across the entire width of the pool, the mosaic tile finish of the swimming pool is particularly well showcased. The first step is designed extra wide, serving as a shallow lounging area while also concealing the pool cover beneath it.
