Shaped by the Slope: A Pool That Follows the Terrain

WHAT MAKES THIS POOL SPECIAL

On a sloping property near Osnabrück, nestled in the Teutoburg Forest, Pools & Ponds created a spacious bathing and residential garden.

From the generous terraces and lounge areas surrounding the house, several steps lead down to the pool deck, and further levels open up towards the expansive lawn. This structured, terraced design gives the entire garden a harmonious character and a clear, organized layout.

While swimming, the view extends across the water surface into the treetops and further into the gentle hills of the surrounding landscape.

The high-level pool measures 8.6 × 3.7 meters with a depth of 1.5 meters. It is also designed for athletic swimming, featuring a powerful counter-current system by Binder located at the rear of the pool, equipped with a maintenance-free turbine for a strong, even flow.

On the house-facing side, black, visually “floating” steps lead into the pool. The upper step cleverly integrates a submerged roller cover system, allowing it to extend motorized across the water surface when needed.

In combination with a heat pump, the cover enables year-round use of the pool.

During the warmer months, the pool is surrounded by lush, carefully planted flower beds and ornamental grasses, enhancing the natural garden atmosphere. Even at night, the garden reveals its charm through thoughtfully placed lighting among the plants and around the pool, creating a warm and inviting ambiance.

DESIGN DETAIL

To create a place of relaxation in harmony with nature, the pool was carefully integrated into the sloping terrain.
The different height levels of the garden add character and are accentuated by a decorative corten steel cladding.
