Bridging Architecture and Landscape Through Water

WHAT MAKES THIS POOL SPECIAL

This garden pool in Dieburg, Hesse, plays with different levels—much like the architecture of the associated single-family home. The modern building features a lowered terrace level, positioned three steps below the garden level.

The pool, located at the center of the garden, connects these two levels by extending into the terrace area, thereby creating a distinctive architectural feature. The “projecting” corner is clad in a decorative stone wall with integrated lighting, while stairways on both sides lead up to the lawn areas—and thus back to the pool.

The pool itself, an Overflow Multi model by Niveko measuring 10 × 3.6 meters, was installed by Pro Pool directly into the shell structure previously constructed by the homeowner. Thanks to the narrow and therefore discreet perimeter overflow channel, the water sits flush with the edge, displaying a beautiful light blue tone due to the pure white pool finish.

On the house side, a full-width staircase leads into the pool, while on the opposite side, an underground roller shutter housing is almost invisibly integrated outside the swimming area. The slatted cover from Rollo Solar Melichar, equipped with aluminum-look solar slats, also contributes to heating the pool water.

Additional heat is provided by a heat pump, which—like the fully automated water treatment system—comes from Topras. A turbine counter-current system by Binder, along with colored underwater lighting, completes the technical features.

To allow swimming regardless of the weather, the homeowners also installed a low-profile Topras enclosure, which was given its own walled niche at the rear end of the garden pool.

DESIGN DETAIL

Designed in a purist style with clean lines, the steps extend across the full width of the pool, leading gently into the water. Thanks to the white pool finish, this creates a beautiful light blue visual effect.
