WHAT MAKES THIS POOL SPECIAL
This modern city villa in Stuttgart exudes a high level of sophistication and has been equipped by SHS Schmierer with an exceptionally elegant garden pool. Like the architecture of the house, the entire garden design is characterized by varying levels, connected by both striking and slender staircases.
The 48-square-meter concrete pool, lined with rectangular tiles, blends seamlessly into this composition and literally acts as the link between house and garden—its edge merging smoothly with the structure supporting the exterior staircase. The pool itself is raised about half a meter above ground level and can be accessed from both the front and rear via three-step staircases. However, entry into the water is provided only at the front, where a set of steps spans nearly half the width of the pool.
At the rear side of the pool, the skimmer unit—responsible for directing the water to the fully automated treatment system—as well as the slatted cover are installed. During use, however, neither is visible. Both the pool water and the cover slats disappear discreetly beneath a raised platform, where sun loungers invite relaxation. This elevated area is especially popular in the evening, when the house, garden, and pool are bathed in atmospheric lighting—not created by a few strong sources, but by numerous finely detailed light elements, such as LED spots integrated into the pool wall.
DESIGN DETAIL
At the front end of the pool, generously proportioned concrete steps with a striking design lead up to the raised pool edge. The staggered, seemingly floating steps are evenly illuminated from below in the evening.
