WHAT MAKES THIS POOL SPECIAL

For triathlete Bernd Over, sport has always been part of daily life. To make training more convenient, he decided to build a pool in his garden equipped with the HydroStar turbine swimming system from BINDER. The powerful and natural current provides ideal conditions for endurance swimming and uninterrupted training.

Before building the pool, Over wanted to ensure that the system would allow effective swim training without constantly turning at the pool walls. His pool specialist recommended HydroStar, explaining that conventional counter-current systems often produce narrow, unstable flows that make swimming uncomfortable. HydroStar, by contrast, uses turbine technology instead of pumps to generate a wide, smooth, river-like current that keeps the swimmer balanced in the water.

Impressed by the realistic swimming experience, Bernd Over installed a HydroStar dual-turbine system with a flow rate of 430 m³ per hour in his 3.5 x 7.5 meter CITY+ pool from PoolFab / LPW Pools. The system can be controlled via remote control, piezo button, or the BINDER24 app, which also allows users to adjust current intensity, control LED lighting, and create personalized training programs.

HydroStar systems are available in performance levels from 160 to 1,200 m³ per hour and are easy to install thanks to their compact turbine shaft design. They require no separate technical room, operate quietly, and need very little maintenance. BINDER also offers EasyStar, a retrofit solution for existing pools with the same performance and functionality.

The compact fiberglass pool fits perfectly into the garden design with its light gray finish, granite coping, and Bangkirai wood terrace. Over especially appreciates the quiet operation of the system, allowing his family to relax nearby while he trains.

Today, Bernd Over swims against the HydroStar current three to four times a week. In addition to preparing for triathlons, swimming has helped strengthen his upper back and neck muscles after multiple cervical disc issues. “Since I started swimming regularly, I no longer have any problems,” he says.
