WHAT MAKES THIS SAUNA SPECIAL
As part of a newly built private residence in an exclusive suburb of Munich, a bespoke wellness oasis was created, with the entire planning and execution entrusted to A1-Schwimmbadbau. While an outdoor swimming pool provides year-round enjoyment in the garden, a whirlpool and panoramic sauna were accommodated within a dedicated wellness wing extending alongside the pool into the landscape.
The sauna cabin was installed flush with the surrounding wall surfaces, allowing it to blend seamlessly into the architecture and appear almost like an adjoining room. Access is provided through a glass door framed by two additional glass panels. Concealed fixings and minimal hardware create a virtually seamless transition between floor, walls and ceiling, enhancing the open and airy atmosphere.
Inside, large-format timber cladding with a subtle horizontal grain defines the space and harmonises perfectly with the two reclining benches. Modern headrests provide exceptional comfort, allowing bathers to relax while enjoying the sparkling starry-sky ceiling above, complemented by optional indirect lighting and carefully positioned spotlights.
A black EOS “Mythos” heater, equipped with an external steam generator, creates the authentic Finnish sauna climate. Opposite, a floor-to-ceiling glass façade opens the space towards the garden and the adjacent swimming pool. During the winter months, the pool serves as a refreshing plunge pool between sauna sessions, further enhancing the overall wellness experience.
DESIGN DETAIL
The floor-to-ceiling glass front with its subtly integrated door opens up uninterrupted views from the sauna towards the relaxation area. Elegant lounge seating arranged around the fireplace and television creates a welcoming retreat, inviting guests to relax and recharge between sauna sessions.
