Urban Green Meets Pure Water Design

WHAT MAKES THIS POOL SPECIAL

As part of a new residential construction project in Munich-Harlaching, Schleitzer baut Gärten was responsible for the entire garden design of the property. At its center lies a ten-meter-long and three-meter-wide living pool with a liner finish, accentuated along its long sides with natural stone.

The two shorter sides adjoin wooden decks—one featuring a lounge area and outdoor kitchen, the other a sun deck with an adjacent wellness garden house. Beneath the sun deck, the in-floor slatted cover is concealed, allowing it to disappear completely from view when the pool is in use. Thanks to its solar slats, it also contributes to heating and insulating the naturally treated water.

An air-source heat pump provides additional comfort by maintaining pleasant water temperatures. Water treatment is carried out both biologically and physically in accordance with the Living Pool concept by Biotop. An underground biofilter and a phosphate filter handle purification—tasks that would otherwise be performed by a regeneration zone in a traditional swimming pond.

This approach made it possible to create a classic garden pool that offers the bathing experience of a natural pool, allowing it to integrate seamlessly into the garden’s natural, formal, and clean-lined design concept.

DESIGN DETAIL

The garden pool, with its biological water treatment system, is surrounded by specimen trees, lush perennials, and shrubs that create a cozy atmosphere—both while swimming and when relaxing in the lounge area.
