WHAT MAKES THIS SAUNA SPECIAL
On the upper floor of their residence in Hohenbrunn, the homeowners commissioned Klaus Schlenker GmbH to create a relaxing wellness duo consisting of a sauna and steam room. Positioned side by side, the two cabins share several design elements that ensure a cohesive appearance, including full-glass fronts with elegant black frames and subtly contrasting ceiling transitions. Their interiors, however, could hardly be more different.
Behind the right-hand frameless front made of grey-tinted tempered safety glass lies the bespoke sauna, clad in vertically installed alder wood panelling. The four generously proportioned, softly rounded sauna benches are likewise crafted from alder, as are the bench claddings and the two backrests. The latter feature integrated RGB LED lighting, allowing the interior atmosphere to be adjusted to the desired colour at the touch of a remote control.
This lighting concept is complemented by the “Crown Elite” designer sauna heater from Tylö, whose illuminated pixel-pattern cladding creates a striking visual effect. The advanced heater is also equipped with integrated air chambers that accelerate the distribution of heat and airflow throughout the cabin. A narrow, floor-to-ceiling window maintains views towards the adjacent rooftop terrace, which also serves as a cooling area between sauna sessions.
The steam room, by contrast, is defined by a dramatic black-and-white palette featuring marble-effect wall cladding. Steam is generated by the “Stella” steam shower column, whose matte-black finish stands out elegantly against the light background. Indirect lighting is integrated into the column itself, while additional “Polaris” light points set into the ceiling enhance the atmospheric effect. The ceiling also incorporates a matte-black rainfall shower, completing the sophisticated design.
DESIGN DETAIL
A slender partition wall projects slightly between the two cabins, subtly separating their distinct interior concepts from one another. At the same time, it provides the ideal location for the touchscreen sauna control panel with its integrated colour display, placing the technology prominently yet elegantly within the overall design.
