A Natural Pool Concept Rooted in Craftsmanship

WHAT MAKES THIS POOL SPECIAL

For over 60 years, the company Schleitzer has been designing individual gardens and, for more than 30 years, has also specialized in the construction of natural pools. In Munich’s Allach district, the company’s show garden has been enhanced with a new highlight—a granite pool by Kusser that complements the existing pool landscape and blends seamlessly into the modern garden setting.

During planning and construction, regional and local materials as well as insect-friendly, future-oriented planting were used. The prefabricated 3 x 8 meter swimming pool was delivered in one piece by Kusser, allowing for quick installation. The natural stone surface provides a distinctive look and feel, enhancing the water’s natural coloration.

A single-sided overflow creates the visual focal point of the pool: the water spills over the edge and disappears into a narrow slot at the base. There, the overflow channel is discreetly integrated, transporting the water for treatment. This is carried out biologically using the Living Pool system by Biotop. Instead of the regeneration zones with plants and organisms typically required for swimming ponds, this system uses underground biofilters along with the specially developed PhosTec Upstream phosphate filter for biological and physical water treatment.

For sporty swimming, the pool is equipped with an X-jet counter-current system by Fluvo, while an in-floor slatted cover from BAC Pool System with polycarbonate lamellae protects it from debris when not in use. The pool is surrounded by an IPE terrace deck, while the adjacent paving and the distinctive stepping stones are made from regional granite. The pathways are finished with clinker bricks, creating a harmonious overall design.

DESIGN DETAIL

Since the granite pool features an overflow edge on only one of its long sides, the other three pool walls rise slightly above the water level. On this side, a wooden seating and lounging bench has been integrated.
