A Pool That Shines After Sunset

WHAT MAKES THIS POOL SPECIAL
On a hillside property in the Swiss canton of Zurich, Fritz Meyer Schwimmbassinbau made use of the existing topography to create a particularly striking garden pool. On the slope, a podium-like wellness landscape unfolds, offering various levels of enjoyment – especially at night.

The pool, a RivieraPool Modena measuring 7.25 × 3.2 meters, is positioned roughly level with the garden lawn but rises about half a meter above it. This gives the basin a freestanding appearance while also allowing for the impressive single-sided infinity overflow.

Along almost the entire length of the pool runs a strip flush with the pool floor in the Modena Infinity design. The pool water flows quietly into an integrated overflow channel, where it is collected and returned to the filtration system.

At the head end of the pool, the terrace connects to the house via an integrated staircase. From there, the view opens onto the surrounding landscape. The pool steps lead down into the water in six steps and continue seamlessly into a wide bench area that also functions as a comfortable seating zone.

At the opposite end of the pool, a roller shutter compartment is integrated into the structure, allowing the basin to be covered with polycarbonate solar slats. The cover is recessed approximately 48 centimeters below the pool edge and is clad in granite to match the pool coping, giving the water a deep, elegant appearance.

At night, the garden pool becomes an impressive highlight: LED lights along the overflow edge illuminate the flowing water, while additional garden lighting and color-changing underwater illumination create a spectacular atmosphere.

DESIGN DETAIL
The one-sided infinity overflow is already a highlight in itself, as the pool water quietly flows toward the house terrace and disappears into a bright white pebble bed. At night, however, the effect becomes even more striking when an LED light strip stages the overflow edge.
