Roman M: Inspired by Glass and Gold

Curves calm the eye. Light adds depth and brings surfaces to life. Water unites both into a quiet, immersive experience. The “Roman M” whirlpool follows exactly this interplay, translating it into a design that is understated yet present. Its form appears clear and natural, carried by materiality and atmosphere.

The “Roman M” by Riviera Pool is the consistent evolution of a classic and at the same time a deliberate statement of design. Within the Roman line, it occupies a special position, as it was conceived from the outset as a mosaic whirlpool. Here, classical formal language meets contemporary materiality and a lighting concept that turns the surface itself into a narrator. The circular geometry recalls the original idea of bathing and translates it into a modern architectural calm. With a diameter of 194 or 244 centimetres and a comfortable basin depth of 85 centimetres, the whirlpool feels generous without being dominant, integrating naturally into private spa environments indoors as well as into high-quality landscaped gardens.

This quiet presence continues in every detail. The “Roman M” is designed so that technology remains invisible, subordinated to the design. Intakes and functional components are integrated into a recessed niche beneath the entry step. This keeps the basin walls clean, the surface calm, and allows the mosaic to unfold its full effect. The entry step itself becomes a connecting element between function and design. It facilitates access to the water while also forming a quiet stage for light and material.

At the heart of the design is the glass mosaic. For decades, Riviera Pool has worked with the renowned manufacturer Ezarri, whose mosaics are among the highest quality and most durable surfaces in pool construction. The 25 × 25 mm glass tiles precisely follow the curved geometry of the “Roman M” and create a surface that comes alive with every movement of the water. Light is absorbed, refracted, and gently reflected, generating depth and texture that go far beyond purely decorative effect.

The selection of mosaic collections opens an exceptional design spectrum. Nature-inspired series evoke the character of stone, earth, and mineral surfaces, lending the water a calm, grounded depth. Iridescent collections respond sensitively to light, giving the basin a subtle shimmer, almost as if it were breathing from within. Metallic-inspired surfaces create deliberate accents and turn the “Roman M” into a sculptural design object with strong presence. Each collection carries its own identity, allowing the whirlpool to be precisely aligned with architecture, surroundings, and personal preference.

This interplay of material and surface is further enhanced by the newly developed lighting concept. The integrated lighting is designed not to act in isolated points but to illuminate the entire mosaic evenly. Warm white light creates a calm, intimate atmosphere in which the water appears soft and inviting. Colored lighting moods introduce deliberate accents and transform the spatial experience without becoming intrusive. The illumination is not conceived as an effect, but as an amplifier of materiality.

The architectural execution of the basin follows the same principle. The “Roman M” is available either as a skimmer version or with a circumferential overflow channel. The overflow channel in particular becomes a design feature, as it can be integrated flush into the surrounding deck. The grating either recedes visually or can be individually designed from materials that reflect the character of the environment. This creates a seamless transition between water surface and architecture.

Inside, the clear design philosophy continues. Several ergonomically arranged seating positions invite users to experience the water consciously in a seated position. Gentle air bubbling and finely tuned massage zones provide relaxation without interrupting the calm character of the design. The comprehensive standard equipment conveys a sense of reliability and quality, as everything required for a modern whirlpool is thoughtfully integrated from the outset.

Whether as a quiet retreat in a private spa, an atmospheric highlight in a garden, or an architectural element within a sophisticated wellness concept, the “Roman M” combines sensuality, material depth, and technical intelligence into a coherent whole. It is not a fleeting trend, but a lasting statement for those who want to experience wellness not only physically, but visually as well.
