In a vast garden in the heart of Thuringia, not just a pool but an entire wellness retreat was created, complete with a modern pool and guest house, lounge area, and outdoor kitchen. To realize the project, the architect brought pool specialist Woelk on board.
The sloping site made it possible to design the garden across several levels, connected by charming staircases. At the top, the garden begins with a wide band of planting beds and lawn areas surrounding the property, supported by a decorative sandstone wall. Slightly below lies the main level of the modern pool house, featuring an exceptionally wide cantilevered flat roof. The reason is simple: it protects both the access areas and the pool terrace from changing weather conditions.
Two striking columns support the roof above the lounge area and outdoor kitchen, both located on the spacious lower garden terrace. The swimming pool is also positioned here. Measuring an impressive 12.6 x 5.5 meters, the pool is finished with a natural stone-look membrane lining. The tiled surface of the surrounding area extends right up to the water, creating a seamless visual effect thanks to the pool’s perimeter overflow system. The water gently flows over the pool edges and disappears beneath discreet overflow grates, giving the entire surface a refined, uninterrupted appearance.
To ensure energy-efficient operation, the garden pool is equipped with a heat pump and an in-floor roller cover featuring an eco lowering function. Finally, another staircase leads down to the lowest garden level, where a private tennis court completes the outdoor experience.
DESIGN DETAIL
The sloping terrain of the property allowed for an architectural interplay of different levels. The connecting staircases create a special sense of character — this one even serves as a windscreen for the lounge area.
