BEHQ accelerates its European growth with the acquisition of Chemartis

The Catalan company BEHQ is taking a major step forward in its international expansion strategy with the acquisition of Italian firm Chemartis, strengthening its presence across Europe and consolidating its position in the water treatment sector.

A strategic move to strengthen its international presence

BEHQ, a Catalan company specialising in swimming pool water treatment solutions, has expanded its international structure with the acquisition of 100% of Italian company Chemartis. The transaction, carried out through SEBIC (Bonet i Clemente), the Catalan family-owned group to which BEHQ belongs, represents a further step in the company’s long-term growth strategy in Europe.

The acquisition marks the culmination of a commercial partnership spanning more than thirteen years. During this period, Chemartis has become a key strategic partner for BEHQ in Italy, acting as the exclusive distributor of some of the group’s leading brands, including Piscimar and Aquanet.

With the integration of Chemartis, BEHQ will strengthen its direct presence in Italy, a market considered strategic within its European expansion plans. The operation will allow the group to exceed €30 million in turnover, while Chemartis contributes more than €6 million in annual business volume in the Italian market.

BEHQ: technical solutions for professional water treatment

BEHQ is a Catalan family-owned company with more than 30 years of experience in the hydrochemical industry. The company specialises in the manufacture and distribution of chemical products and technical solutions for the maintenance and treatment of both private and public swimming pools.

Its portfolio includes solutions designed to address common water treatment challenges, such as algae growth, green water, excess phosphates, and the maintenance of appropriate disinfection levels to ensure water quality.

One of BEHQ’s most recognised brands is Piscimar, a specialised product range used by swimming pool maintenance professionals across Europe. In addition to manufacturing its own solutions, the company also acts as an official distributor of equipment and water analysis solutions from leading international manufacturers.

Innovation is one of the company’s key pillars. Through continuous investment in research and development, BEHQ has strengthened its position as a technically specialised company and has been recognised as an Innovative SME by Spain’s Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

Chemartis: Italian expertise in chemical distribution

Founded in 2001, Chemartis has built a strong track record as a distributor of chemical products for water treatment and industrial applications. The Italian company specialises primarily in swimming pool solutions, offering chemical products, water analysis equipment and specialised formulations for professional customers.

Over the years, Chemartis has established a strong presence in Italy thanks to its focus on product quality, technical expertise and close relationships with customers. Alongside its activity in the water treatment sector, the company also serves industrial markets such as investment casting foundries, supplying specialised materials including binders, waxes, refractories and other technical products.

The company is recognised for its commitment to quality, safety and regulatory compliance, with management systems certified under international standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Italy: a key market in BEHQ’s European strategy

The integration of Chemartis will enable BEHQ to strengthen its position in Italy and establish a more direct operational structure in a strategic market for the water treatment industry. Until now, the Italian company had played a fundamental role in introducing and developing BEHQ’s brands in the country.

The acquisition will help both companies improve coordination, optimise processes and build closer relationships with Italian customers and distributors.

According to BEHQ, the operation forms part of a long-term growth plan focused on international expansion, the consolidation of priority markets and the development of an increasingly integrated European structure.

Towards a stronger international industrial group

With the incorporation of Chemartis, BEHQ moves closer to its goal of becoming an industrial group with a stronger international presence. Combining BEHQ’s technical expertise and manufacturing capabilities with Chemartis’ knowledge of the Italian market will allow the company to strengthen its offering and create new growth opportunities.

The acquisition reflects BEHQ’s commitment to a business model based on specialisation, innovation and long-term commercial partnerships, reinforcing its position in the professional water treatment sector across Europe.rofessional water treatment sector across Europe.
