WHAT MAKES THIS POOL SPECIAL

In the Ahlenberg district of Herdecke, sauna and swimming pool specialist WEIGAND realized this linear garden pool, stylistically aligned with the modern architecture of the residence. House, pool, and pool surround are perfectly coordinated and merge into one harmonious composition. Here, light is used so skillfully that it creates a striking sense of three-dimensional depth, illuminating the overall architecture of this “living and water object” — wood, house, and pool — in a remarkable evening atmosphere.

The 3 x 6 x 1.5 meter pool features a shallow-water zone connected to a side-positioned entry staircase. This shallow area was intentionally designed for the younger family members, providing a safe space for playing and splashing. Adults also enjoy using it for sitting or reclining in the shallow water. For cooling off on hot days, the deeper section of the pool offers refreshing water and is primarily used for fitness swimming and health-oriented exercise.

To support effective swim training without constant turning, the pool is equipped with a counter-current system. When the pool is not in use, a roller cover can be extended across the water. Its silver solar slats not only create an elegant appearance but also contribute to solar heating of the pool water.

Water treatment is handled by fully automated, energy-efficient pool technology that minimizes maintenance requirements. Thanks to remote access, the pool’s status can also be monitored conveniently while away from home.

In 2018, this clean-lined pool project received the prestigious bsw Gold Award.

DESIGN DETAIL

The skimmer pool was framed with natural wooden decking, which quite literally gives the pool a visual border. As the property is situated on a slope, the wooden cladding was aesthetically extended downward along the hillside.
