Swimming in Nature: A Living Pool in Sauerland

WHAT MAKES THIS POOL SPECIAL
In the garden of a hillside property in the Sauerland region, a new pool landscape was created for a family, replacing the former children’s play area. As the sandbox and playhouse gradually lost importance as the children grew older, the garden was redesigned.

At the center of the design is a swimming pool that offers enjoyment for the entire family. The homeowners opted for a biopool with the Living Pool system from Biotop, which allows biological water treatment without a regeneration zone. The installation was carried out by Klute Gärtner von Eden.

The masonry pool basin with a liner finish was carefully integrated into the existing garden landscape. At the head end of the pool, a newly constructed pool house provides a level surface in the sloping terrain.

The pool house offers additional comfort for bathing and extends evenings by the pool. During colder seasons, it can also be used as an outdoor living space.

The swimming pool is framed by slightly elevated natural stone slabs, while a wooden deck and entrance steps complete the design. The entire filtration technology as well as an energy-saving roller cover are installed beneath the central wooden deck.

A heat pump ensures comfortable water temperatures. The result is a modern pool landscape that blends harmoniously into the existing garden structure despite being built at a later stage.

DESIGN DETAIL

Directly next to the pool house, an outdoor shower made of stainless steel was installed. It replaces the need to walk back to the house for a quick rinse and offers refreshing moments surrounded by ornamental grasses and perennials.
